Uses

Anthracite grey Aluminium F Sections from the Glazing Shop are manufactured from high quality aluminium profiles and powder coated for durability. These profiles provide a clean finish to the left and right edges of your roof.

These aluminium F sections are recommended for use to create an end bar in the outside of a glazing bar. This combination gives a strong fix against wind uplift. Depending on whether your roof is open at the ends or against a wall, the profile can be used either way up. The long leg of the section can point down to cloak off the open edge or it can also point upwards if it abuts a wall so you can flash over it. This section is not compatible with PVC capped rafter bars as the prongs are too deep.

This section can be used on its own to save costs but only if the long leg is downwards so it can be screwed through regularly into the side of the rafter. We do however, recommend that they are used with a glazing bar for the strongest and neatest solution.

Options

Available to suit glazing thicknesses or 10mm, 16mm and 25mm and supplied in 4m or 6m lengths, they are easily cut to size on site.

Fitting

The aluminium F section slides over the edge of your polycarbonate sheet. Suitable for 10mm, 16mm & 25mm polycarbonate. This F section is best used in the outside of a glazing bar to create an end bar. This gives a strong fix against wind uplift and depending on the finish you need, the profile can be used either way up. The long leg of the section can point down to cloak off the open edge of your roof or it can also point up if abutting a wall to enable you to flash over it. The top cap of your glazing bar will then hold this section firmly in place.

If used without a glazing bar the section can only be used with the long leg facing downwards. This is so you can screw through it into the side of the rafter at regular intervals along its length. If used without a glazing bar you will also need to run a bead of silicon along its length to assist with waterproofing. The silicon must be a low modulus neutral cure one to ensure it is suitable for use with polycarbonate.
