Polycarbonate Fixing Buttons are used to give extra security to your polycarbonate sheets. They help to prevent wind uplift and are generally used in conjunction with glazing bars when sheets are wider than the recommended widths specified by the manufacturers.
Our polycarbonate fixing buttons come in packs of ten with each pack containing ten screws, ten buttons shafts with a clip in top cap and ten compression gaskets. Fixing buttons are fixed through the polycarbonate sheet into wooden rafters or noggins. Polycarbonate buttons are not as effective a long term solution as glazing bars as they do not allow for the same level of natural expansion and contraction of the sheet.
The buttons should be fitted at 300mm centres and be no nearer than 100mm from any cut edge.
1. Drill a hole 2mm wider than the width of the button shaft with a HSS drill bit. This allows for the natural expansion and contraction of the sheet as temperature changes occur.
2. Place the foam compression gasket under the button shaft. This will help to prevent water ingress.
3. Screw down being careful not to overtighten.
4. Press in the button cap.
