32mm Heatguard and Bronze Opal polycarbonate sheets are a high spec product with high insulation properties. These dual tinted sheets help you to keep heat in during winter months, and reflect heat and glare in the summer. High impact resistant 32mm polycarbonate sheets from the Glazing Shop come with a 10 year Warranty.
Traditionally used in conservatories they are not such a popular choice currently since the introduction of 35mm sheets. 32mm sheets are mainly used for replacing sheets in existing roofs.

This silver-grey external face serves to reflect the suns rays helping to reduce heat build up within the roof by up to 50%. The internal face of the polycarbonate sheet is opal tinted. This allows for excellent reflective internal light.
Bronze-Opal is a dual coloured polycarbonate sheet with a bronze outer surface and an opal tinted inner surface again giving excellent reflective inner light

Dual Tints: Bronze–Opal & Heatguard
Two layers of colour combined in one sheet give the ability to reduce the build up of heat and solar glare.Howver it still provides soft, diffused natural daylight. The outer layer controls heat and reduces solar heat gain in your roof by up to 50%. The combined heat-reflective outer and light diffusing opal inner help to provide an aesthetic ambience to your conservatory.
Bronze-Opal is a two coloured polycarbonate sheet with a bronze exterior and an opal tinted interior. The opal surface provides you with reflective inner light.
Heatguard sheets have a special treatment extruded into their exterior surface which reflects the rays of the sun. This helps to reduce heat build up in your roof by up to 50%. The inside surface of the polycarbonate sheet has an opal tint. This gives excellent reflective internal light.
You can use both ‘rafter supported’ and ‘self-support’ glazing bars with 32mm polycarbonate.
Rafter bars are screwed down into wooden rafters along their lengths. The wooden rafters provide the support to the bars structurally.
The rafter glazing bars we recommend for 32mm polycarbonate sheets are our aluminium capped ones. These are a low-profile screw down glazing bar from the Sunwood range which we supply in 50mm and 60mm widths. They are available in white, brown, anthracite grey and mill finish, all in a range of lengths.
Self-support glazing bars do not need rafters for support as they have their own structural strength.
Our self-support glazing bars are available in a wide range of colours and a variety of lengths. There are separate dedicated main bars and end bars.
32mm Rafter supported roofs first need rafter glazing bars. We recommend our aluminium capped rafter bars for 32mm polycarbonate. You start and end your roof with glazing bars, and you will have glazing bars between each sheet. You create the end bars by adding an aluminium F section to the outside of the bars. These trims balance up the bars and neatly cloak off the ends of your roof. Your roof will also need 32/35mm sheet closures to prevent moisture getting into the bottom of the sheets. You push these on over the anti-dust tape.
32mm self-support roofs use self support main bars between the sheets of your roof and dedicated end bars at the left and right edges of it. These end bars are complete with trims to give a neat finish to the edges. You will need 32/35mm sheet end closures to keep moisture from penetrating the bottom edges of your sheets. You push fit these over the anti-dust tape, between the glazing bars.
Self-support roof systems also have purpose made wall plates and eaves beams for the high and low ends of the roof. The wall plate, as the name suggests, fixes the glazing to your wall. The eaves beam carries the glazing at the lower, front end.

A dual tinted polycarbonate sheet has two layers of colour, one on top of the other, within its structure. The bronze or silver-grey coloured layer gives extra thermal insulation. This reflects the sun to prevent heat build-up. The lower opal layer reflects and bounces light around under the roof.
Multi-wall describes the make up or structure of the polycarbonate sheet. This has walls and cavities otherwise known as flutes.
32mm polycarbonate has a seven-wall structure. This makes it lighter weight and easy to manage. It also insulates the sheet making it perfect for conservatory roofs.
The length follows the direction of the flutes down the sheet. The width goes across the flutes. The maximum extruded sheet length is 7m and the maximum width is 2.1m. We cut your sheets to the size you need, rather than selling standard sizes, at no additional extra cost. This means you only pay for what you use, saving you money, time, and inconvenience on site.
Yes, as you need the UV layer to face the sky and the extra thermally efficient colour to reflect the sun’s rays. You must place the bronze or silver-grey surface of the sheet upwards, facing the sky and the opal layer underneath.
Yes, the open flutes of all 32mm sheets used externally need tape to prevent dust and insect ingress. All our 32mm sheets are pre-taped before despatch at no extra cost. If you will need to cut your sheets down again on site, you will need to buy additional 35mm anti dust tape to retape the bottom of the sheets.
32mm polycarbonate is available in a wide range of colours to suit a range of applications. It is available in the standard colours of clear, opal and bronze as well as dual tints, with a choice of Heatguard Opal and Bronze Opal.
32mm Heatguard polycarbonate is a dual tinted sheet which has a silver-grey upper layer and an opal lower one. Perfect for conservatories this sheet has excellent thermal insulation. The upper surface serves to reflect the rays of the sun, reducing heat build-up by up to 50%. This insulation also helps to stop heat loss on colder days. Light transmission is 4% however, the opal inner surface reflects the light and bounces it around to keep the interior of your conservatory brighter.
32mm Bronze-Opal polycarbonate is the other choice of dual-tinted polycarbonate sheet. This colourway has a bronze-coloured upper surface and an opal lower one. Another perfect choice for conservatory roof glazing with the bronze surface reflecting the sun’s rays for excellent thermal insulation. The light transmission for 32mm bronze-opal is 7%. The opal inner surface reflects light off it and as such helps to keep the internal area lighter.
32mm clear polycarbonate has a light transmission of 64%, allowing the most light through of all the tints. As a result of its fluted structure, clear polycarbonate will allow a diffused view of the sky through it.
32mm opal polycarbonate has a translucent white appearance. Its light transmission is 33%, allowing a softer light through it. This translucency is perfect for offering privacy, allowing you to shield the area beneath it from being overlooked. This quality also helps to make any leaves or debris less viable from below.
32mm bronze polycarbonate is a brown/ bronze tinted sheet. Often used to match up with a brown conservatory or brown windows on a property. Its light transmission is 7%, the lowest of the three single tint polycarbonate sheets.
Designed primarily for conservatory roofs, 32mm heatguard and bronze-opal polycarbonate sheets have excellent thermal insulation properties. This is due to both their structure, and the dual tinted nature of the sheet.
They are also extensively used in industrial and commercial roofing and rooflights.
Our 32mm polycarbonate dual tint sheets are from the best extruders and the most dependable suppliers.
All the polycarbonate sheets from the Glazing shop have a 10-year limited warranty from the manufacturers for your peace of mind.
